John R. 'Buzz' Schmitz, Jr., 67 of Monroe, OH passed away on Friday, July 6, 2018. John was the beloved husband of Carol A. (nee Snider), devoted father of Joanne (Gary) Major, John R. 'Rob' (Ashley) Schmitz, III and Heather (Jeff) Siliven, dear brother of Debbie Kindle, Harry Schmitz and Terri Huddleston, also survived by many grandchildren and countless family and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, John R. and Neletta Schmitz.
Buzz was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. He graduated from Roger Bacon High School in 1969 and started working for US Ink. He retired after many years as foreman of ink manufacturing. John 'Buzz' was a great role model for his family in the way he 'Walked the life of Jesus". He loved his family. But it was clear that family was second only to his faith. He was very involved with his church and volunteered at the food pantry and Upward basketball as a referee. He knew no strangers and was willing to give of himself to anyone who needed help. He loved everyone. Christmas was his favorite holiday. He enjoyed family gatherings and having family at the house with him. Buzz was an avid sports fan either in person or from his favorite recliner.
Visitation at Monroe Church of the Nazarene, 400 Macready Avenue, Monroe, OH 45050 on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 from 9:30 AM until time of Service at 12 noon. Pastor Steven Grooms officiating. Interment at Graceland Memorial Gardens.
John 'Buzz' was an organ and tissue donor allowing 50 recipients to benefit from his generous gift and showing his continuous love for others.
