Mary I. Greely (nee Ives), 88, beloved wife of the late Rev. John 'Jack' Greely, dearest daughter of Robert Franklin and Ruth (Enger) Ives, beloved mother of John I. (Annette Bruscino), Grant (Mary-Laura) Greely and Mary 'Maggie' (T. Keith) Boris, loving grandmother of Sam, Jack, Matthew, Austin and Abigail Greely and Finley Boris, also survived by cousins Fay and Ned Fawcett and friends. Born in Cincinnati, OH on June 20, 1928 and passed away on February 5, 2017 in Darien, CT.
Mary and John married just after John was ordained a Episcopal Minister. They moved to Toledo, OH to start their lives together. John worked as a hospital chaplin in the Toledo area. As John's ministry grew they moved to churches in Stonington, CT, New York City, NY, Boston, MA and finally to Martha's Vineyard, St. Andrew's Church in Edgartown, MA.
Mary and John enjoyed entertaining people and were very social. Mary had many surprises to whom John would bring home for dinner. One Thanksgiving he brought home a hitchhiker he had offered a ride.
Mary was very active in all the churches they belonged to and was a very generous and giving person. She was committed to helping others. When they moved to Martha's Vineyard Mary did volunteer work for MV Hospital, MV Hospice and delivered Meals-on-Wheels. She became the Treasurer for the Woman's guild at St. Andrew's Church. She remained positive and never complained about her health issues, and was blessed to have a true companion as her caregiver, Alnie (May May) Hosang.
