Barry M. Strasser, 82, passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2026 with his loving family at his side. Barry is the beloved husband of Barbara L. (nee Delp), he is the devoted father of Jeffrey (Jill) Strasser, Jennifer (Brandon) Cooley and the late Christopher Strasser. Barry's joy were his grandchildren; Alex (Brie) Strasser, Maggie (Sam) Everson, Christopher, Caroline, Will, Janie Strasser, Olivia Smith, Jake Smith., Lauren and Ella Cooley, dear brother of the late Steve Strasser and Susan Buttelwerth.
Born in Cincinnati on January 6, 1943 to Hilda and Roy Strasser, Barry Strasser grew up on the west side in North College Hill as the eldest of three children, alongside his late twin siblings, Steve and Susan. A gifted student at Roger Bacon High School, he took pride in his academic achievements before studying engineering at the University of Cincinnati. Answering a call to serve his country, Barry joined the United States Navy, where he spent four years as a radarman aboard the USS Marias, including a memorable final year on an icebreaker in the Arctic Circle. His service fostered a lifelong patriotism that he proudly shared with his family through stories, memorabilia, and Navy reunions. It was during this time that he met the love of his life, Barbara, beginning a partnership that would define the rest of his years.
After returning home, Barry built a 32-year career at Procter & Gamble, traveling the world and forming lasting friendships while providing a wonderful life for his family. Barbara and Barry were married on October 7, 1967, shared 58 years of marriage, raised two children Jeff and Jennifer, and found immense joy in their twelve grandchildren. Barry was deeply present in their lives, never missing an opportunity to support, celebrate, or simply be there. His passion for baseball led him to coach his son's team for many years-forming lifelong bonds with players and families alike-and later extended to coaching his daughter's softball team and his grandson's baseball team.
In retirement, Barry and his wife settled at Wetherington Golf and Country Club, where he embraced golf, friendship, and community life, earning the affectionate nickname "Mayor of Castle Pines Lane." Known for his warmth, humor, and unforgettable stories, Barry was admired and loved by all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of faith, family devotion, hard work, and patriotism. Though deeply missed, his family takes comfort in knowing he is reunited with loved ones and at peace, and that his influence will live on through generations.
