Betty Sue Freeman

June 22, 1953 — January 19, 2026

Betty Sue (Gilbert) Freeman of Maineville and longtime resident of Kings Mills, died peacefully on Monday, January 19, 2026, at her home surrounded by her closest family. Betty was born on June 22, 1953, to Clovis Gilbert and Carol (Merritt) Gilbert.

Throughout her career, she dedicated herself to customer service, making significant contributions in various roles within the hospitality industry, administrative and support services, and account management in charitable giving. Betty’s professional endeavors reflected her innate ability to connect with people, a quality that extended into her personal life.

Those who knew her often speak of her loving, fun, and open-minded nature. Betty had a remarkable gift for making others feel comfortable simply by being herself. She had a contagious laugh and a great sense of humor, often delivered with just the right amount of sarcasm.

Many cherished memories were created over the years during family vacations, especially trips to the beach with her family and friends, her special vacation to Bermuda with her mother, and her memorable trip to Austin, Texas, to meet her second grandchild for the first time. Betty took great pride in her role as a mother, and some of her proudest accomplishments include raising two successful sons and becoming a grandmother to two beautiful grandchildren.

Betty is survived by her sons, Rickey (Robin Hoadley) Jestice of Mainville, Ohio and Brandon Freeman of Austin, Texas; grandchildren, Arden Jestice and Cameron Freeman; brothers, Donald Gilbert and David Gilbert; lifelong friend, Cindy Scott; dear friends, Volha "Olga" Brazhynskaya and Janet Freeman; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Clovis Gilbert and Carol J. (nee Merritt) Gilbert-Richardson.
