Candace Lynn Ritchey, affectionately known as "Candy," was born on January 7, 1948, in San Francisco, California. She passed away peacefully on November 12, 2025, in Blue Ash, Ohio, leaving behind a tapestry of memories woven through her various roles in life.
Candace's career was an eclectic journey that reflected her diverse interests and skills. Throughout her life, she spoke proudly of her experiences as a truck driver, waitress, cook, and even her time in health care. Each job contributed to her rich life story, marked by resilience and adaptability.
A graduate of Leigh High School in San Jose, California, Candy cherished the values of hard work and determination. She found solace in the comfort of her clean home, where everything was meticulously kept, and not a speck of clothing was out of place. Those close to her knew that she took great pleasure in cooking and was always eager to try new recipes, further showcasing her nurturing spirit.
Candy was known for her vibrant personality, including her passion for gardening. Often supervising the gardening projects from her front porch, she brought joy and beauty to her surroundings, reflecting her love for nature.
She is survived by her son, Edward Lee Stephens, as well as her sisters-in-law: Sharon Ricketts, Janet (Chris) Lutes, and Deborah (Kenneth) Osburn. Additionally, she is remembered fondly by her nieces and nephews: Jason (Ashley) Ricketts, Richey Ricketts, Sarah Ricketts Williams, Jermiah (Christine) Lutes, Malachi (Jennifer) Lutes, and Michael (Cassie Burchett) Osburn, along with her great-nieces and great-nephews: Isabella Miller, Pierce Ricketts, Anna Rose Ricketts, Nathan Ricketts, Nolan Ricketts, and Arabella Williams.
Candy's legacy is carried on by the love she cultivated and the memories she created, particularly cherished by her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond Edward Shields, Sr. and Pearl August (nee Lord) Shields, her brother, Raymond Edward Shields, Jr., her husband, Roger Daniel Ritchey, her infant daughter, and her brother-in-law, Victor Ricketts.
A visitation will take place on December 13, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a memorial service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Mueller Funeral Home, located at 6791 Tylersville Rd, Mason, OH 45040.
Candace Lynn Ritchey will be remembered for her indomitable spirit, her deep love for family, and the warmth she brought to all who knew her.
