Carl W. Sanker, age 87, of Monroe, Ohio, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at Ohio Living Mount Pleasant.
Born on December 11, 1937, in Dayton, Ohio, Carl grew up in Mason and graduated from Mason High School in 1955. Shortly after graduation, he answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Air Force Reserves, where he served with honor until his discharge.
Following his military service, Carl built a successful career as a salesman with Diamond International, where his integrity and dedication earned him the respect of colleagues and customers alike. He worked faithfully for the company for 29 years until his well-deserved retirement in 2002. Carl had raised this family in Colerain Township and enjoyed his retirement in Liberty Township.
Carl was a man of deep faith and was a devoted member of Mason Presbyterian and Heritage Presbyterian Church in Mason, where he generously gave of his time and talents helping to maintain the church grounds and assisting with various maintenance needs. His commitment to serving others extended beyond his church family, as he also served as a board member at Ohio Living Mount Pleasant, where he put his business experience to work by helping advise the leadership.
A skilled mechanic and craftsman, Carl possessed a natural talent for working on cars and could fix just about anything that needed repair. His handy nature and problem-solving abilities made him the go-to person for family and friends who needed help with repairs. Above all, Carl treasured the countless hours he spent with his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sharing stories, teaching life lessons, and creating treasured memories that will be cherished forever.
Carl is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Gaye (née Goodheart) Sanker, whose partnership is a beautiful testament to enduring love. He leaves behind his loving children: Carl Scott (Debbie) Sanker, Douglas Alan (Shannon) Sanker, and Patricia Lynn (Marc) Schnetzer; his treasured grandchildren, Stephen Sanker, Jason (Melissa) Sanker, Rachel Sanker, Matthew (Christiana) Sanker, Michael Sanker, Warner Sanker, Andrew Sanker, Sabrina Schnetzer, Benjamin Schnetzer, and Sara Schnetzer; and his great-grandchildren, Eliana Sanker, Davin Sanker, Elizah Sanker, and Emberli Sanker all of whom brought immense joy and pride to his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Henry and Mary Margaret (née Unglesby) Sanker.
Carl's life was a shining example of service, dedication, and love. His gentle spirit, generous heart, and unwavering devotion to his family and community will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
The family will receive friends on Friday, June 20, 2025 from 10:00 am until the time of his funeral service at 12:00 pm at Heritage Presbyterian Church, 6546 S. Mason Montgomery Road, Mason, OH 45040. Interment will follow his funeral service at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mason. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Mueller Funeral Home, Mason.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a contribution, in Carl’s memory, to Heritage Presbyterian Church, 6546 S. Mason Montgomery Road, Mason, OH 45040.
