West Chester

Clifford A. Leighty, of West Chester, age 84, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, June 4, 2025. Born on May 14, 1941, in Dayton, Ohio, Clifford lived a life rich in family, faith, and the pursuit of knowledge.

A proud graduate of the University of Cincinnati, Clifford earned his Master's degree in Engineering and went on to dedicate his entire career to Cincinnati Milacron, where he worked as an engineer until his retirement in 2000. Known for his sharp mind and steady hands, Clifford had a lifelong passion for all things mechanical—especially when it meant getting under the hood of a car.

Clifford was a devoted member of Christ's Church in Mason, where his quiet strength and generous spirit touched many lives. His love of music began in his college years, where he played clarinet in the University of Cincinnati’s marching band and saxophone in a jazz ensemble—a joy that stayed with him throughout his life. He especially cherished evenings spent at the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra with his beloved wife.

Family time was Clifford’s greatest treasure. He found joy in boating excursions, particularly on the Ohio River, where he taught generations of family members how to water ski. He was also an avid table tennis player, often competing in local tournaments and enjoying the camaraderie of the sport.

Clifford will be remembered not only for his intellect and curiosity, but for his kindness, humor, and the steady presence he offered to all who knew him. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched—with tools in hand, music in the background, and family by his side.

He will be deeply missed by his wife of 50 years, Florence Beckett Leighty; children, Pam (David) Witt, David (Jane) Leighty and Heather Young; grandchildren, Madison & Gabrielle Witt, David Leighty, Alysha (Junior) Webb, and Thomas & Carmen Young; and his great granddaughter, Ella Webb.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul & Martha (nee Sabins) Leighty; son, Randall Gray; grandson, Christopher Leighty; sister, Paula Hawthorne; and a son-in-law, Dennis Young.

The family will receive friends on Friday, June 13th, 2025 from 11:00 am until the time of his funeral service at 12:30 pm at Christ’s Church at Mason, 5165 Western Row Road, Mason, OH 45040. Interment will immediately follow his funeral service at Butler County Memorial Park, Hamilton, OH. Arrangements are under the care of Mueller Funeral Home, Mason, Ohio.
