Daniel E. Helsinger of West Chester, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his children on May 23, 2024, at the age of 84. He was born to the late Denzel and Eva (Conger) Helsinger on September 13,1939 in Lebanon, Ohio.
At the age of 24, Daniel married the love of his life, Barbara E. Helsinger (nee Niederman) on April 25, 1964. He worked at Procter & Gamble before leaving to serve in the U.S. National Guard and the U.S. Air Force Reserve. Once honorably discharged from his service, he returned to his job at Procter & Gamble which he stayed at for 35 years. In addition, he worked at Century 21 as a realtor on weekends for many years. He retired at the age of 55 to spend time with his family and friends.
Daniel was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and Follower of Christ. He was very involved at St. John the Evangelist Church; he enjoyed participating as an alter attendant and serving mass at any chance he could get. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. He always had a witty sense of humor and loved joking around with everybody. He never met a stranger. He enjoyed drinking his Starbucks, fighting with squirrels and spending time with Betty Carnes. He will be missed by all.
Preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Barbara Helsinger of 57 years, son, Bradley David Helsinger, and brother-in-law, Martin Kelly.
Daniel is survived by his children, Craig (Trudy) Helsinger, Coleen McCormick, and Shawna Helsinger; grandchildren, Zachary Helsinger, Lindsay Helsinger (Fiancé, Tim Fry), Ashley Popp (Fiancé, Logan Tanner) and Evan Popp; sister, Diane (Paul) Whitacre; and sister-in-law, Sandra Kelly.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 29, 2024, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Mueller Funeral Home, 6791 Tylersville Road, Mason, Ohio 45040. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, May 30, 2024, at 11:00 am at St. John the Evangelist Church, 9080 Cincinnati-Dayton Road, West Chester, Ohio 45069. Interment will immediately follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mason, Ohio.
