It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Daniel Joseph Slater on May 11, 2026. Dan was born on November 27, 1994, in Norwich, New York, to Sam and Debbie Slater. In 1998, the family moved to Mason, Ohio, where Dan attended Mason schools. He graduated from William Mason High School in 2013 and later attended the University of Cincinnati.

Growing up, Dan was involved in many activities, including Boy Scouts, baseball, soccer, marching band, and high school football. He was also an avid gamer, with Call of Duty and Need for Speed among his favorites.

Dan had a deep love for the outdoors, camping, music, the ocean, and dogs — especially his beloved Staffordshire Terrier, Cooper, who predeceased him. He also had a passion for cars, particularly fast ones, and especially Mustangs, owning several over the years. Dan earned his commercial driver’s license and worked as a big rig truck driver.

Dan is survived by his parents, Sam and Debbie Slater; his sister, Megan (John Dickhaus); his nephews, Cayse and Colby Dickhaus; and many loving uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.

A private ceremony will be held at Mueller Funeral Home in Mason, Ohio, on a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Mason Youth Organization, the Humane Association of Warren County, or to a local youth sports organization or animal shelter in Dan’s memory.

The family asks for privacy during this difficult time.
