Dennis W. Murray

Dennis William Murray, of Mason, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 6th, 2025, at the age of 82. He was born Sunday, September 6th, 1942, in Covington, Kentucky, to William George and Margaret (nee Ryan) Murray.

Dennis was the son of a gear cutter and grew up in Silver Grove, Kentucky. Upon graduation from high school, he enlisted in the Navy. After his service, he worked for the US Postal Service for over 35 years, until his retirement. Dennis married the love of his life, Shirley, in 1964. They were together for 56 wonderful years before she passed away, and they raised two sons and a daughter. Dennis loved fishing, baseball (especially his hometown Cincinnati Reds) and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. Dennis and Shirley enjoyed their daily walks together and vacations to Tybee Island.

Dennis instilled the value of hard work into his children and was a devout Catholic. He made sacrifices along the way to send them to parochial schools and then onto college. He was selfless, setting the example of putting others ahead of himself. When Shirley developed Alzheimer’s disease, Dennis faithfully and lovingly took care of her before finally allowing her to be placed into a nursing home. It was normal for Dennis to visit Shirley twice daily, six days a week, so that he could be with her for lunch and dinner.

Dennis was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Murray; parents, William and Margaret (Ryan) Murray; sisters-in-law Ann Bolander, Darlene Campbell, Vicki Smith, Karen Smith; and brothers-in-law Jimmy Smith and Virgil Bolender.

Dennis is survived by his children Brian (Kathi) Murray, Beth (Charlie) Richter, and Kevin (Laure) Murray; grandchildren, Patrick, Michael, & Matthew Murray, Samantha (Brandon) Roche, Megan, Jason (Elise) Richter, and Meredith & Adam Murray; great-grandchild Henry Richter; brother, Bill (Sherry) Murray; brothers-in-law, David Campbell, Clarence (Donna) Smith; and many loving family members and friends.

Visitation will be Monday, May 12th, 2025, from 10:00 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. Susanna Catholic Church, 616 Reading Road, Mason, Ohio 45040. Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Mueller Funeral Home, Mason, Ohio.
