Edward McBay Jolly, born on January 5, 1945, in Royal Oak, Michigan, left this world peacefully on December 18, 2025, in Liberty Township, Ohio. He was cherished for his warmth and kindness, traits that endeared him to many throughout his life. Those who knew Ed will remember his infectious laughter and his ability to make friends easily. He was a man of humility, never one to boast about his accomplishments, yet his proudest achievement was undoubtedly his family. He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Marcia (nee Horodnicki) Jolly, and his children, Dana (Dave) Albrecht and David (Van Anh) Jolly. Ed took immense joy in the company of his grandchildren, Nathan, Jack, and Tyler Albrecht, who were a constant source of pride and happiness in his life. Ed is survived by his loving family, and he joins his parents, Guy and Mary (nee McBay) Jolly, who have preceded him in death.
Ed's journey began in Royal Oak, where he graduated from Kimball High School in 1963. A dedicated athlete, he enjoyed a memorable time as a member of the diving team. Shortly after high school, he demonstrated his commitment to service by joining the Army National Guard, where he was activated during the Michigan riots, showcasing his dedication to his community and country.
In his professional endeavors, Ed made significant contributions to the field of machine tools. Alongside his business partner, Don Maudlin, he dedicated many years to selling machines and machine tools at DeVlieg Machine Company in Royal Oak. In 1975, he took a bold step in his career by purchasing Automation Accessories, a regional machine tool distributor for Southern Ohio and Northern Kentucky, which led to the relocation of his family to Montgomery, Ohio.
Ed was not only defined by his career but also by his passion for sports and physical fitness. He approached each day with a commitment to his health and well-being, working out diligently until the later years of his life. His love for tennis and golf served as a source of joy, providing camaraderie and enjoyment amongst friends and fellow enthusiasts.
His legacy of kindness, dedication, and love will forever resonate in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. Ed's presence will be dearly missed but his spirit will continue to inspire those he leaves behind.
