Gertrude Smith

Gertrude Hazel (nee Weinheimer) Smith, 89 of Cincinnati passed away on July 21, 2025, in West Chester, Ohio. Born to Stanley and Gertrude (nee Lapthorn) Weinheimer on April 19, 1936, in Cincinnati Ohio

She enjoyed spending 20 years as a snowbird in Destin, Florida to escape the cold Cincinnati winters with her beloved husband, Thomas (Red). She enjoyed the simple pleasures of playing cards, sitting on her back porch waving to people passing by while enjoying a big bowl of ice cream with chocolate syrup. What brought her the most happiness is spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren who affectionately called her Tutu Honey. They were both members of Pleasant Ridge Presbyterian Church for almost 60 years.

Preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Thomas A. (Red) Smith of 67 years, and 7 sisters and 5 brothers.

Gertrude is survived by her children Nancy (Daniel) Shannon and Kamela Jones and grandchildren Michael Shannon, Taryn (Andrew) Reinke, Ryan (Melissa) Shannon, Alysha (Bryan) Luna and Allen Jones and great grandchildren Zachary Drayer, Lane Reinke and Rylann Shannon. Also survived by many , many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

A memorial service will be held on August 5, 2025 at 10:30 AM at Pleasant Ridge Presbyterian Church

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to Down Syndrome Association Greater Cincinnati.
