Gladys C. (nee Schulte) Altherr was born on March 12, 1933, in Cincinnati, Ohio, and passed away peacefully on August 27, 2025, at West Chester Hospital in West Chester, Ohio. She was a cherished individual whose legacy will resonate through her family, friends, and community.

Gladys was known for her unwavering spirit and her dedication to engaging with those around her. She loved to share and teach, embodying the role of mentor and leader throughout her life. Gladys was a proud mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, finding immense joy in her family, which was reflected in her many accomplishments as a talented seamstress. She crafted beautiful wedding dresses, created clothing for children, and designed and sewed costumes, showcasing her artistic flair and nurturing heart.

As a devoted community member, Gladys held several positions of leadership and service, including serving as Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, participating actively as a Deer Park Band Booster, and serving as a leader for both Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts. Her engagement in these roles exemplified her commitment to nurturing and guiding the youth.

In her leisure time, she was an avid reader and found much enjoyment in playing Canasta with her card club and participating in a bowling league, activities that brought her much joy and connection with friends. Gladys and her husband, Robert F. Altherr Sr., shared a deep love that extended into their retirement years when they purchased a hobby farm, which they enjoyed tending to together.

She is survived by her children, Robert F. (Christina) Altherr, Jr., Karen (Richard) Johnson, Evelyn Altherr, and Leslie (Ron) Galley; daughter-in-law Diane Altherr; grandchildren Robert F. Altherr, III, Victor (Stephanie Lake) Altherr, William (Naomi) Altherr, Jennifer (Peter) Roden, Adam (Tracy) Johnson, Carrie (Dan) Little, and Brian (Julie) Altherr; as well as her seven great-grandchildren; and her sister Lois Piening. There are also many nieces and nephews who will remember her fondly.

Gladys is preceded in death by her beloved husband Robert F. Altherr Sr., her son Jeffrey Altherr, granddaughter Jessica Galley, Father Lester C. Schulte, Mother Lela (née Maddox) Schulte, and brothers Lester C. Schulte, Jr. and David Schulte.

Visitation to honor Gladys will take place on September 12, 2025, from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Mueller Funeral Home, located at 6791 Tylersville Rd, Mason, OH 45040. This will be followed by a service from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM, allowing family and friends to gather in remembrance of a remarkable woman whose impact will not be forgotten.

Her memories live on through the rich tapestry of lives she touched with her kindness and wisdom, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
