Hai Do Nguyen

We are saddened to announce that Hai Do Nguyen, beloved father, son, brother, and uncle, passed away on November 12, 2025 in Kalamazoo, MI, at age 55.

Hai was born on April 27, 1970, in Saigon, Vietnam. After moving to the United States with his family in 1975, Hai grew up in Denver and graduated from the University of Colorado with his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering in 1992.

A dedicated and caring father, Hai loved spending time with his family. He had a kind heart and loved children, animals (especially dogs!), and plants. In addition to his gentle personality, Hai also had a quick wit, a playful sense of humor, and an adventurous spirit, enjoying his motorcycle and long road trips. Hai was a great tennis player and remained fit and active throughout his life, recently finishing in the top five of his family’s 2025 Gatlinburg Olympics, triumphing over many younger competitors. Finally, Hai was fondly known for his ability to always find a deal or coupon for anything, but despite this frugalness, he was always generous with others, never hesitating to give to those in need.

Hai loved his family unconditionally and is survived by his children Ethan and Nicole, their mother Lan, and his parents Tu and Nghi. He is also survived by his siblings Minh (Cuong) Tran, Mai (Phuoc) Ngo, and Hiep (Phuong) Nguyen; nephews and nieces Richard, David, Stephanie, Jonathan, Nicholas, Steven, Alyssa, Lindsay, Christopher, Matthew, Daniel, Emily, and Justin; and grand-nieces Arden, Cora, Nora, and Layla. We thank Hai for all his love and care over the years, and although he will be deeply missed, his family takes comfort in knowing that rather than a permanent goodbye, it is only goodbye for now. We will use his inspiration to live fuller and more loving lives.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 21st from 5:00-8:00pm at Mueller Funeral Home, 6791 Tylersville Road Mason, OH 45040. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, November 22nd at 11:00am at St Maximillian Kolbe Parish, 5720 Hamilton Mason Rd, West Chester Township, OH 45011. Cremation will follow and will be private for family only.
