Beyond his career, Jim possessed a wealth of hobbies and talents that brought joy to his life and to those around him. He taught himself to play both acoustic and electric guitar, demonstrating his passion for music as he learned to read and write sheet music. Fishing was another cherished pastime for Jim, who humorously held the unofficial record for catching the smallest fish. Additionally, he enjoyed golfing, where, although he never achieved a hole-in-one, the time spent with his family on the green was what truly mattered most to him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Sue (nee Fields) Collins; daughter, Kerry Collins; and son, Kevin Collins, along with his wife, Katrina Collins.
