Jeanette M. Lucia, born on May 11, 1954, in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, passed away on February 17, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love and unwavering dedication to her family. She was a beacon of light, known for her joy and zest for life.
Jeanette worked in corporate accounting in Bethlehem, PA and Wilton CT before choosing to become a full-time mother/home-maker, and moving to Cincinnati in 1988. She was highly involved with her children’s school, assisting teachers with various classroom activities, plays and projects. She spearheaded the “Penny Power” fundraising campaign for several years at Shawnee Elementary, raising thousands of dollars for playground equipment and other needs.
An avid shopper, Jeanette loved tracking down hard to find items and getting the best deals. She got more joy from finding things for her family and friends, versus shopping for herself. Jeanette was a fantastic cook, who immensely enjoyed experimenting with different recipes and dishes, and entertaining friends and family. Her talents extended outdoors, to landscaping and maintaining her yard and garden (e.g.; she single-handedly collected flat rocks from a creek bed, transported them and built two garden walls.)
Jeanette created many, many lasting and cherished memories. She made Christmas magical with decorations, gifts and incredible dinners, but mostly by exuding love and the spirit of giving. She made birthdays special with parties, gifts, food and her energy. The family trips Jeanette planned…..to England, Hawaii, Exuma, Ireland, National Parks, and annually to Bethany Beach….were amazing and unforgettable.
On a smaller scale, Jeanette sent jokes, played pranks and constantly sought laughs and fun on a daily basis. She loved meeting people, starting conversations whenever she had the chance. Jeanette was a kind neighbor and friend, and helped others in need. This included bringing a lost coon hound home one day, and caring for it until she found it’s owner. Her home-made soups helped many recover from a cold.
Jeanette will be remembered for her enthusiasm, giving, joy, and humor. Above all, she will be remembered for her unwavering love of family. She will be deeply missed.
Jeanette is survived by her husband, John Lucia; her daughter, Laura (Greg) Bowman; her son, Jeffrey (Danielle) Lucia; her beloved grandchildren, Lando and Leena; her sisters, Mary Bogle and Ann Godiksen; and numerous other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Mary (McCarthy) Muller, and three brothers, David Muller, Richard Muller, and James Muller.
In lieu of flowers, please send memorial contributions in Jeanette's honor to the Cincinnati Zoo.
A Celebration of Life will be announced in the coming weeks.
