John Edward Ferman Jr, 80, of Mason, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, in Cincinnati, OH. Born on May 25, 1945 in Piqua, OH, John was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to all who knew him.
He was a loving father to and survived by his daughters, Deborah Ferman Godwin and Deanna Ferman Hamm. John was a proud grandfather to Noah Godwin. He is survived by his brother Richard Ferman and sisters Judith Ferman Weber (Carl) and Patricia Ferman as well as his nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 40 years, Carol Ferman (nee Smith), his second wife of 11 years, Kathleen Ferman (nee Dixon), brothers Mike and Tony, and his parents, John Sr and Mary Ferman (nee Gangloff).
John graduated from Piqua Catholic High School before going on to earn an electrical engineering degree from The University of Cincinnati. He worked at Keithley Instruments in Solon, OH and later at Harris Corporation in Mason, OH. He was proud of his credentials as a Professional Project Manager, IT professional and Distinguished Toastmaster, DTM.
He was passionate about providing service to others. John was an active member of Immaculate Conception Church in Willoughby, OH and St. Susanna in Mason, OH. He participated in Marriage Encounter, served as lector, mass coordinator and a Eucharistic minister.
For the second half of his life and through retirement, his dedication and service continued as he co-founded a non-profit organization for Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome with his daughter Deanna and established an EDS Awareness website. He worked as a full time volunteer to develop a network of 100+ EDS support groups, hosted more than 100 educational webinars, managed medical CE programs, awareness events and a leadership conference.
John was an avid traveler, visiting such places as Egypt, Rome and Hawaii with his wife, Kathy. He enjoyed working and keeping his mind sharp, but when he had down time, he was passionate about his Star Trek and Howdy Doody collections which he loved to share with others.
John was a selfless, compassionate life-long caregiver and he spent all his time working hard to provide for the needs of his family. He will be deeply cherished and missed.
A visitation will be held at Mueller Funeral Home, 6791 Tylersville Road, Mason, Ohio, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 18th. A Mass will be at St. Susanna Catholic Church, 616 Reading Road, in Mason, Ohio, at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 19th. Private burial service will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Piqua, OH.
