Judy B. D'Eramo (nee Criss), of Cincinnati, Ohio, beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt and grandmother, passed away peacefully Friday, December 11, 2020 at the age of 82. Affectionately known as "Sweet Judy”, she suffered from dementia for many years, but never lost her pleasant disposition. She was born Thursday, June 30, 1938 in Brady Lake, Ohio to Martha Ione (nee Judy) Criss and Chester Royal Criss.
Judy received a Bachelor of Science in Education from Kent State University where she was a member of Alpha Phi sorority and sang in a cappella choir. At Kent State, she met the love of her life, Tony P. D’Eramo. They married on August 20, 1960 in Kent, Ohio. Together, they raised three daughters and lovingly welcomed four grandchildren.
Early in the marriage, Judy taught grade school then became a full-time homemaker, and created a loving home. She was an encouraging and incredibly supportive mother, loving wife, selfless grandmother, excellent cook and baker, skilled seamstress, and artful decorator. She planted wildflower gardens and sang in her beautiful voice and whistled as she took care of the home.
Judy was a fun-loving, loyal and thoughtful friend to many. She enjoyed tennis, bowling and bridge, welcomed holidays and reunions, and happily embraced the traditions of Tony’s big, Italian family. As a dedicated member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, she sponsored the Little Shepherd's Field of Dreams T-ball field and more. Judy was also an entrepreneur, lending her meticulous accounting skills to businesses she and Tony created.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Chester R. Criss; mother, Martha I. (nee Judy) Caniglia; step-father, Michael J. Caniglia; husband of 57 years, Anthony “Tony” P. D'Eramo; brother, Chester "Ronnie" Criss; and sister, Michelle Caniglia Lund.
Judy is survived by her daughters, Toni Lynn (Michael Jamieson) D'Eramo, Cheryl Ann (Brad) Deaton and Dianne Adele D'Eramo Gorski; grandchildren, John Logan (Amelia) Deaton, Gina Marie Deaton, Joseph Anthony Deaton and Ryan Anthony Gorski; sister, Linda (John) Caniglia-Creamer; brother-in-law, Frank C. (Beverly) D'Eramo; nephews, Mike, Pat and Tony D'Eramo and Robby Whitney; niece, Natalie Lund; and many other family members and friends.
