Karen Oaks

April 1, 1958 — June 17, 2024

Karen Oaks , age 66, passed away peacefully, in her home of 24 years on June 17th, 2024.

Karen was born April 1st,1958, to George and Kathryn Geary in Hamilton, Ohio.

She married Richard Oaks on May 9th, 1999, on a pirate ship in Key West. Becoming a family with Rick, Cody & Kyle was “the best thing that ever happened to her”.

Karen was a very intuitive women filled with joy and love.  She was able to have an intimate conversation with anybody she came across.  Karen enjoyed the simple things in life, elegantly merging a deeply connected soul with a stoic nature.  Anywhere you saw her you would see her smile followed by a quick-witted comment.  Some of Karen’s delights included attending mass at St. Philip’s, for which she valued the structure and lessons provided and could share those in a universal way with anybody. She loved cooking and providing for her home, something that, her selflessness was exemplified through, once making a scratch 3-day Lemon Chiffon cake for her son’s grade school history class. Additional joys included gardening, sewing, and sharing collection of beautiful crystal Angels that brighten the entrance to her welcoming home. Her biggest joy came from just being with her family. Karen didn’t need anything more than that.

Karen also took immense pride in her career; she just achieved 15 years of service shaping & growing Sharefax Credit Union as the branch manager.  Her colleagues shared that Karen was the best manager, leader, and mentor they would have. She would never ask anyone to do something that she wouldn't do herself. Karen did what needed to get done. An honorable respect for duty.

Karen is survived by her husband, Richard Oaks, children, Cody, Courtney, and Kyle, Grandchildren, Cori and Keaton Oaks, Siblings, Cheryl (Gill) Web, Jim (Chris) Geary, and Mickey Geary. Also, survived by her cousin Kathy Dudley, sister-in-law Sue Geary and many extended family members and friends.

Preceded in death by her brother Patrick Geary.
