Lonnie Ray Wheeler, of Mason, Ohio, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at the age of 81. He was born Thursday, February 4, 1943 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Elmer and Sadie Rae (nee Edwards) Wheeler.
Lonnie married his childhood sweetheart, Barbara Jean Woebkenberg, on February 25, 1963 in Byrdstown, Tennessee. Together, the couple created a home filled with love and laughter to raise their daughter and son in. With an outgoing personality, Lonnie never met a stranger and was truly invested in getting to know you as a person. He had a passion for speed as was evidenced with racing cars at Edgewater with his brother-in-law. An avid outdoorsman, "Lucky Lonnie" could often be found fishing on his boat. Lonnie had a musical side as well. As an accomplished drummer, he played with Jerry & The Midnights. Lonnie will be forever loved and cherished by all that knew him.
Lonnie was preceded in death by: parents, Elmer and Sadie Rae Wheeler; and a sister, Karen Ondo.
Lonnie is survived by: his devoted wife of 61 years, Barbara Wheeler; daughter, Paula (Frank) Robinson; son, Jeff (Donna) Wheeler; granddaughter, Cheyenne Rae (David Schenkel) Wheeler; great-granddaughter, Chloe Rae Schenkel; brother, Larry (Sandy) Wheeler; sister, Eraina (Bob) Morrison; and many loving family members and friends.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 10, 2024 from 12:00 noon to 1:00 PM at Mueller Funeral Home, 6791 Tylersville Road, Mason, Ohio 45040. Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 PM at the Funeral Home. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
