Paul James McCowan, 77 of Mason passed away on October 28, 2023. Born to Sam and Pearl (nee Judd) McCowan on August 11, 1946, in Oneida, Kentucky.
Paul was a proud and dedicated veteran in the United States Army, Special Forces. He was a professional skydiver for over 50 years, making thousands of jumps, but his favorite was the world record he held. For a long time, Paul held the world record for skydiving with the largest American flag, which was an honor to him. Paul performed in hundreds of air shows all over the world and was even a licensed pilot.
He enjoyed classic cars and taking his 1967 Mustang to car shows and sharing his hobby with his son. Paul was quiet, but strong, he had a unique sense of humor, was talented in painting and drawing and was always willing to lend a hand.
Preceded in death by his parents, Sam McCowan, Pearl and Henry Schneider, and his daughter, Stephanie McCowan.
Paul is survived by his wife, Jill (nee George) McCowan, two sons, Doug (Amber) McCowan and Jacob McCowan, grandchildren, Ethan, Gabrielle and Jenna McCowan and his grand pups, Luna, and Maverick.
A private service will be held for the family. A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, November 11, 2023, from 12:00pm - 4:00pm at the main hangar at Warren County Airport (I68) located on 2460 Greentree Road, Lebanon, OH 45036.
Memorial donations may be made in his name to the
James Cancer Center.
