Philip H. Mccabe

October 7, 1952 — March 30, 2023

Philip “Phil” H. McCabe, 70 of Liberty Township, passed away on March 30, 2023. He was born to John and Maxine (nee Erichsen) McCabe on October 7, 1952 in Storm Lake, Iowa.  Phil’s early years were spent on a rural farm in northwest Iowa where he grew up with his eight brothers and sisters.

He served his country honorably as a member of the United States Air Force from 1972 to 1976.  Thereafter, Phil began a career in the aeronautics industry, initially as a cost accountant, then as a precision sheet metalist, before progressing to working as a process/project engineer.

He enjoyed woodworking and could often be found crafting toys, furniture, or heirlooms for his family. Phil also had a love for literature and enjoyed discovering new books at the library.

His faith in Christ transcended all facets of his life. Phil’s commitment to serving those around him was the greatest evidence of his faith. He truly believed what Jesus said in Mark 10:43 that “whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant.” His family members were the greatest recipients of his servant heart.  Phil loved his family deeply and prioritized spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and siblings over pursuing his own interests.

Phil is preceded in death by his parents and his sister Diane McCabe.

He is survived by beloved wife Susan McCabe, his son Matthew (Kristen) McCabe, his daughter Kelsey (Matthew) McManus, five grandchildren (Jacob, Jackson, Carter, Kyree and Landon McCabe), his siblings Greg (Juanita) McCabe, Sue (John) Fox, Ruth (Ron) Wiskus, Debbie (Dale) Scott, Jim (Ladell) McCabe, Gary (Tina) McCabe, Mark (Rhonda) McCabe, and many other loving family members and friends.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 6, 2023 at 10:00 a.m., with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 am, all occurring at Tri-County Baptist Church located at 8195 Beckett Rd, West Chester Township, OH 45069.
