Richard Robert Vestring , 78, passed away on February 6, 2023. Born to William Charles and Ruth Catherine (nee Klettner) Vestring on May 23, 1944, in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Dick (Richard) was a partner in a Certified Public Accounting firm in Cincinnati for over 30 years. He enjoyed volunteering his time with the Catholic Church, spending over 15 years with St. Susanna calling bingo and organizing festival finances. Later he joined Good Shepherd Parish and volunteered as a Eucharistic minister for many years.
Dick was a car enthusiast, and adored his 2002 Thunderbird. He took pride in being part of the Concours d’Elegance group for over 10 years, having his Thunderbird in the show twice.
He enjoyed Sundays at the family farm with his mom and brothers. As well as mowing the lawn and chatting with his neighbors and friends on the “patio driveway.” He was a social butterfly with a contagious personality and a witty sense of humor.
Dick was affectionately known as “Grumpy” to his granddaughter and later to the rest of the family. He valued his family time and was an excellent example of a husband and father, and an all around wonderful human being.
The staff at the Legacy affectionately referred to Dick as “the mayor” he was kind, friendly and always took time to get to know someone personally.
Preceded in death by his parents, William Charles, and Ruth Vestring and two brothers, David and Ronald Vestring.
Dick is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marilyn (nee Haddad) Vestring, two children, Beth (Paul) Fischer-Reinhart and Greg Vestring, granddaughter, Grace Fischer, two step grandchildren, Lauren and Jenna Reinhart, brother, William Vestring, Jr and many lifelong friends and family.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 13th from 11:00-12:00 noon with a Mass of Christian burial at 12:00 noon all at Good Shepherd Church, 8815 E Kemper Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45249. Interment to follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made in his name to The Legacy at Liberty Ridge or the Alzheimer’s Association.
