Shawna Soth, 60, of Clive, Iowa, passed away September 14, after a 12-year fight with cancer. A memorial service was held Saturday, September 30th at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Urbandale, Iowa. Another memorial service will be held Saturday, October 28th at 11:00 am at Crossroads Church, Mason, Ohio
Born in Des Moines, Iowa, Shawna graduated from Urbandale High School in 1981. She later graduated from the University of Iowa in 1985 with a degree in Dental Hygiene.
Shawna IS a devout Christian woman, sitting now on the right side of God. She role-modeled love, grace and compassion through Bible study groups and her daily walk. She was an incredible wife, mother, sister and daughter, and a devoted friend to so many. She continues to excel in those roles in spirit.
Shawna consistently put others before herself. In recent years, her passion to give back flourished through her dental hygiene work in urban Cincinnati schools, halfway houses and juvenile detention centers. She gave compassionate oral hygiene care to children and teens who otherwise could not access or afford the care.
Shawna was a terrific sports wife of a 26-year coach, and an “all-in” sports mom to three athletic sons. There was no effort or commitment that she would not undertake for the happiness and success of her “four boys”.
Shawna lived a life characterized by change and compassion. She cherished her friendships and experiences in Iowa City, Philadelphia, Orlando, Madrid (Spain), Fayetteville and Loveland (Ohio).
Shawna is survived by her husband, Dave Soth, of Clive, Iowa; three sons: Tyler (and Morgan) Soth of Cumberland, Rhode Island, Bryan Soth of Athens, Ohio, and Alejandro (Alec) Soth of Ames, Iowa; her brother, Scott Moore, of Urbandale, Iowa; and her nephew Nick (and Jenn) Moore. She was preceded in death by her mother, Verna Moore, and her father, C. Thomas Moore.
