Terence M. Keating

Terence M. Keating, affectionately known as Terry, passed away on February 9, 2026, in West Chester, Ohio, at the age of 79. Born on October 29, 1946, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Terry demonstrated a zest for life and a captivating spirit that endeared him to all who had the privilege to know him.

Terry's educational journey began at St. Dominic then Elder High School, where he graduated in 1964 as a proud Panther. He continued his academic pursuits at the University of Cincinnati, where he not only excelled in his studies but also made a notable mark on the swim team. His love for swimming remained with him throughout his life, alongside his devotion to Notre Dame football, of which he was an ardent fan.

While in college, Terry worked as a lifeguard at Coney Island, an experience that would create a lifetime of cherished memories. His warm demeanor and ability to connect with others were truly remarkable. Terry was known as the funniest guy you would ever meet, someone who could light up a room with his presence and never met a stranger.

Terry served his country honorably in the United States Army, an experience that shaped his character and values. Following his military service, he became a successful loan officer in the banking industry, where his engaging personality and dedication to his work became well-recognized.

Throughout his life, Terry cherished his family, particularly his wife of 31 years, Su Ellen (nee Spurbeck) Keating, and his beloved daughter, Colleen Keating, whom he adored and regarded as his proudest accomplishment. A special memory shared between Terry and Colleen occurred on a trip to New York, where Colleen noticed a lady with common interests as her father. Colleen boldly announced her observation, which led to a memorable conversation that blossomed into a cherished connection.

Terry is survived by his loving wife, Su Ellen, and his daughter, Colleen, alongside close family and friends who will remember him fondly. He is preceded in death by his parents, John David and Ida (nee Faulkner) Keating; and his grandmother (Mom), Mary Ann Keating.
