Valerye May Garratt, née Page, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2026, in Mason, Ohio. Born on May 18, 1939, in Southend-on-Sea, England, Valerye lived a life marked by devotion to her family, community, and personal passions.

As a teenager, Valerye and her friends enjoyed evenings at the local dance hall. With a tap on the shoulder and a polite request to finish the dance with him, Raymond Lewis Garratt waltzed into her life. Their romance blossomed into marriage and they spent their free time with friends or traveling around Europe on a motorbike. They made the significant decision to move to the United States and eventually settled in Cincinnati, Ohio, where they began to grow their family, welcoming two beloved daughters, Karen and Ashlie. The couple celebrated 58 years of marriage together.

Though she made her home far from England, her British roots never left her. She lovingly woke her family each morning with a cup of tea and made sure there was always an afternoon “cuppa” to bring everyone together.

She devoted herself to supporting her daughters’ activities and passions. She was involved in her community as a Campfire Girls leader for Karen and generously gave her time as a dedicated room mom at school. A talented seamstress, she made clothes for the girls and sewed ballet costumes for Ashlie’s performances. Her love was shown not only in what she said, but in the countless thoughtful ways she cared for her family every day.

Valerye was known for her green thumb and was a Master Gardener, cultivating beauty and life in her surroundings with skill and dedication. She would take daily walks around the garden, noting what was blooming or what needed trimming. She found great joy in playing bridge and cribbage, pursuits that reflected her sharp mind and love of camaraderie.

After retiring to Florida in 2001, she became an active member of the Sunnyland Antique Boat Club alongside her husband, Ray, cherishing this new chapter of community and shared interest. Her warm spirit extended into volunteering as Valerye generously dedicated her time to the Ag Center in Tavares, Florida.

Valerye is survived by her daughters, Karen Louise (Tim) Tharrington and Ashlie Jane Ossege, who carry forward her legacy of love and resilience. She is also fondly remembered by her grandsons, Benjamin Harrison Ossege and Andrew Garratt Ossege. Valerye’s family circle includes her sister, Lynette (Vipin) Patel; nieces Tracey, Charoul (Charlie), and Colette (Fred); as well as several great-nephews and a great-niece, all of whom held a special place in her heart.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Raymond Lewis Garratt, and her parents, Victor and Dorothy Joan Page (née Sumpter).

Visitation to honor Valerye’s life will be held on May 13, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the Celebration of Life Service at 12:00 noon at Mueller Funeral Home, 6791 Tylersville Rd, Mason, Ohio 45040. These gatherings will provide an opportunity for family and friends to reflect on Valerye’s remarkable life and her enduring impact.

If desired, memorial donations may be directed to Affinity Care Hospice or to the Salvation Army.

Valerye May Garratt’s life was one of grace, dedication, and kindness, a true testament to the strength of character and love that defined her journey. Her presence will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
