William Glynn Basham

William Glynn Basham, 91 of West Chester, passed away on December 13, 2025. Born to Irvin Justice and Sadie Alice (nee McNeely) Basham on August 14, 1934, in Jefferson County, Louisville, Kentucky.

Bill is survived by daughter, Karen (Don) Zimmers, brother and sister-in-law, Dave and Janet Norton, Dolores "DeeDee" Schuler, also uncle to many great and great, great nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents, Irvin Justic Basham and Sadie Alice, Vivian his wife of 66 years, infant son, Glenn Stephen Basham, sweet daughter, Elaine Marie Basham and Brothers and sisters; Richard "Dee", Mary Etta, Irvan, Jr., Roy, Lila Ray, James Raymond, George Genty and Robert Eugene.

Visitation held on Thursday, December 18th from 12:00 noon until time of Mass at 1:00 PM at Saint John the Evangelist Church, 9080 Cincinnati Dayton Road, West Chester Township, Ohio 45069.

Bill was retired Journeyman Ironworker for 45 years in the field. At the age 17 he started in Louisville, Ky in local 70, an on permit for eight months then joined a union and served as an apprentice on December 28, 1951, for two year later became a Journeyman Rodman. As a Journeyman Rodman employed at Whalen Erecting Company, he was involved in building highways and buildings in Louisville, Kentucky. When he moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1959, he was part of building the Riverfront Stadium, Litle Tunnel, and Brent Spence Bridge, and Daniel Carter Beard Bridge also known as "Big Mac" Bridge.

After retirement, Bill worked part-time at Walmart in West Chester, Ohio, assembling bikes and grills among other tasks.

He knew no stranger. He was a jokester and could make anyone laugh at any time.

Bill enjoyed traveling with his wife, Vivian, on the open road in their RV. Some of their favorite stops were to Harlingen, Texas, the Oregon Trail, and the Outer Banks, where some of their funniest stories come from.

He enjoyed a cold beer or a B&B and coffee after dinner from time to time in the company of family and friends, he enjoyed playing cards such as pinnacle and poker and enjoyed watching the Bengals.

Interment to follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Bill's name to Mt Notre Dame High School- Elaine Basham Memorial Scholarship.
